World’s Largest Catfish in Wahpeton, North Dakota

The World’s Largest Catfish is named the Wahpeton Wahpper, and it is proudly located in Wahpeton, North Dakota.

The 5,000-pound fiberglass catfish statue is located in the Kidder Recreation Area along the Red River.   It’s a really, really big catfish.  12-feet tall, 40-feet long, tipping the scales at 5,000 pounds.

North Dakota’s most famous world’s largest is a giant cow.  Salem Sue is along the highway in New Salem, North Dakota.  Salem Sue was designed by Dave Oswald, the same artist who produced the Wahpeton Wahpper.

Wahpeton is a town of 7,000 people in Richland County, North Dakota.  The North Dakota State College is located there, but it’s fair to say that the giant catfish is the biggest thing in Wahpeton.

See the Worlds Largest Catfish at 518 Dakota Ave, Wahpeton, ND 58075.  It is located at the end of the road that runs through the area.  There is camping available in spots along the Red River.
